1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ForkLock (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

2. Description of Service

ForkLock is a meal focus timer and app blocker that lets you:

  • Set a countdown timer for meals and block distracting apps during the session
  • View your timer on the Dynamic Island, Lock Screen, and Apple Watch (Pro features)
  • Track meal sessions, build streaks, and complete the 21-Day Challenge
  • Create meal presets with custom durations and app block lists
  • Get nudge reminders at your scheduled mealtimes

The App is a personal wellness and productivity tool. It is not a medical device, dietary program, eating disorder treatment, or substitute for professional medical advice.

3. Eligibility

You need to be at least 13 years old to use ForkLock. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you're under 18, you confirm you have consent from a parent or legal guardian.

4. User Accounts

ForkLock doesn't require account creation, login credentials, or any kind of registration. The App runs entirely with on-device data storage.

5. In-App Purchases

5.1 ForkLock Pro

ForkLock offers a one-time, non-recurring in-app purchase (“ForkLock Pro”) for $9.99 USD (or the equivalent in your local currency as set by the App Store). This unlocks:

  • Unlimited presets and blocking profiles
  • Meal scheduling
  • Apple Watch companion app
  • Full Meal History with insights and reports
  • HealthKit integration (Mindful Minutes)
  • Smart Suggestions and Focus Mode
  • CSV data export
  • Weekly streak freeze
  • All future feature updates

5.2 Payment and Billing

All purchases go through Apple's App Store. By making a purchase, you agree to Apple's terms and conditions. We don't process payments directly and don't have access to your payment information.

5.3 Lifetime Access

ForkLock Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase. Once you buy it, you get permanent access to Pro features on all devices signed into the same Apple ID. No subscriptions, no recurring charges, no hidden fees.

5.4 Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple through their App Store refund policies. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support.

5.5 Restoring Purchases

If you reinstall the App or switch devices, you can restore your Pro purchase for free through the App's Settings. This uses Apple's built-in purchase restoration.

6. Screen Time and App Blocking

ForkLock uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls and ManagedSettings frameworks) to block apps during meal sessions.

  • You need to grant ForkLock Screen Time authorization for app blocking to work
  • App blocking is enforced by iOS, not by ForkLock directly
  • You can end a session and unblock apps at any time
  • ForkLock can't determine which specific apps you've selected to block. Apple only provides opaque tokens.
  • We're not responsible for any consequences of apps being blocked during your session (for example, missed messages or notifications)

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use ForkLock only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Try to get around the Pro upgrade or any feature restrictions
  • Use the App for anything that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App or any part of it

8. Your Data

8.1 Ownership

You keep full ownership of everything you put into ForkLock, including session records, preferences, and challenge progress. We don't claim any rights to your data.

8.2 Responsibility

You're responsible for:

  • The data you enter (timer durations, meal labels, etc.)
  • Keeping your device secure
  • Any consequences of blocking apps during a meal session

8.3 Data Loss

We design ForkLock to store your data reliably, but we can't guarantee against data loss from device failure, software updates, iOS changes, or other things outside our control.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Rights

ForkLock, including its design, code, graphics, icons, and user interface, is the intellectual property of Angelo Montil and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. The ForkLock name and logo are trademarks of Angelo Montil.

9.2 License Grant

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use ForkLock on Apple devices you own or control, subject to Apple's App Store terms and these Terms.

10. Disclaimers

10.1 “As Is” Basis

ForkLock is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, including:

  • Merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Compatibility with future iOS or watchOS versions
  • Effectiveness of app blocking under all conditions

10.2 Not Medical Advice

ForkLock is a personal wellness tool. It is not a medical device and doesn't provide medical, nutritional, or psychological advice.

  • Don't use ForkLock as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
  • If you have an eating disorder or a condition affected by mealtime behaviors, please talk to a healthcare professional before using this App
  • ForkLock doesn't monitor, track, or restrict food intake. It only manages screen time during meals.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Angelo Montil won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages from your use of ForkLock, including:

  • Loss of data or session history
  • Missed messages or notifications due to app blocking
  • Interruption of service from device or software issues
  • Any decisions made based on information from the App

Our total liability for any claim related to the App won't exceed the amount you paid for ForkLock Pro ($9.99 USD).

12. Dynamic Island, Apple Watch, and Widgets

12.1 Dynamic Island and Live Activity

ForkLock Pro shows your meal timer on the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen using Apple's ActivityKit framework.

  • The Dynamic Island is only available on iPhones that have the hardware for it (iPhone 14 Pro and later)
  • Apple may change how ActivityKit works or add restrictions in future iOS versions that affect Live Activity updates

12.2 Apple Watch

The ForkLock Apple Watch app uses Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. These features depend on system-level functionality that can be affected by watchOS updates, device compatibility, or Bluetooth connectivity.

Your use of ForkLock is also subject to:

14. Modifications to the App and Terms

14.1 App Updates

We may update, change, or remove features of ForkLock at any time. We'll do our best to keep things backward compatible, but updates may occasionally need changes to stored data.

14.2 Terms Updates

We can update these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted with a new “Effective Date.” If you keep using the App after changes, that counts as accepting the updated Terms.

15. Termination

You can stop using ForkLock any time by deleting it from your device. We reserve the right to revoke access if you seriously violate these Terms, though given the App's local-only nature, that would typically only happen through Apple's App Store mechanisms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

17. Severability

If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable or invalid, that part will be adjusted to the minimum extent needed, and everything else stays in effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, make up the full agreement between you and Angelo Montil for your use of ForkLock. They replace any earlier agreements or understandings.
